March 2022 - Welcome our new captain
For only the second time in the club's 33 year history, we have a second-time captain.

Pete McCluskey's first captaincy was in 2005 and we are delighted to welcome Pete to his second stint as club captain. Committee members include Sarah, Dorena, Tony, Dorena and David.

September 2021 - Captain's Weekend Away - Athlone

Fantastic weekend away in the company of our captain, Tony Jackson. Despite covid restrictions, we made the most of the situation and had a brilliant weekend. A big thank you to Tony and his team for looking after all the logistics of the course, the hotel, the food and travel arrangements.

August 2021 - Brock Inn Outing

Mid-year 2021
It took a while but we eventually have begun to to see restrictions easing and as a result we have been able to return to Sunday morning play and we've evening managed a couple of outings. The last one was a day out to Bohernabreena - it was a lovely day out and we had a very good attendance.

2020 - The Non Year
Over 30 years since the founding of the club and it takes a pandemic to halt us in our tracks. The whole world stopped for a year as we came to grips with the corona virus and the club, like all other activities, had to shut up shop and stay at home. Our Captain Val Smith certainly had a non-captain's year and it was an easy decision to carry her captaincy over to the 2021 season. Thankfully, midway through 2021 we were able to resume weekly play and a couple of outings.

April 2017 - Curragh Outing
ner with Pete second. Hole in one for Dave.

September Captain's Weekend - 2015
Inishkeen was the excellent venue for this year's weekend away. The course was very tricky and challenging but proved to be a big hit with members and visitors alike. Captain Elaine was on hand to wish us all well as we swished our way around the course on a very pleasant Saturday afternoon. Kevin Byrne clinched top spot with a very slim margin while Marty Sheehan was close by in second place. Hole in one went to Don and Mags took best visitor prize.
Captain Elaine Jackson ran a very enjoyable quiz for us before our evening meal in the lovely Shirley Arms Hotel and we all enjoyed a few social beers down the town in Carrickmacross.
Big cheers to Tony Jackson for sponsoring some of the prizes and also, thanks to the committee, the event management was first rate. Definitely a memorable weekend.

Julianstown Outing - July 2015
A near pefect day weather-wise down at Julianstown for our July outing. We had a really good day on what was a very good course in excellent condition. Best on the day were two great rounds from new-ish member Brian Carpenter - well done indeed, Brian.
Our Lady Captain, Elaine Jackson, was a very close second and apart from her hard work on the course she worked hard all day to ensure we all enjoyed the day - thanks, Elaine. Third and fourth, respectively, were Kevin Byrne and Don O'Sullivan.
Big cheers to Tony Jackson for sponsoring a fantastic array of prizes and also thanks to the committee - it all went swimmingly well.
It was also nice that we made it back to the Speaker's Bar for the prize-giving and a socialable drink and chat. Finally, we were delighted to have our honorary President, Tom Roche, on hand to present Brian with the Tom Roche Perpetual trophy.

Navan Outing - May 2015
A brilliant day in Navan. Barely a drop of rain and fresh conditions made it a perfect day for pitch and putt. The course was very good and well worth a return visit in the future. We had a very leisurely day overall, the staff at the club fed and watered us in fine style, we had good craic throughout the day.
Best on the day was Dave Thompson with Peter McCluskey not too far behind in second. Visitor prize went to Anthony Shortt - great to see him on the course again. Captain, Elaine Jackson and Dorena Doran +slotted in for 4th and 3rd place, respectively.
Well done to all the organising committee - a splendid day out.

Christmas Outing - December 2014
What a great day we had down at Long Meadow's for our Christmas Outing. The staff down there and the food was excellent, really brilliant. The course played well and was in good shape with a few challenging longer holes.
Best on the day with some marvellous scoring was Tony Jackson. In second place was Ritchie Kenny with Elaine Jackson close behind in third. Visitor of the day was Brian Carpenter. Great to see suych a briliant turn out for what has been a fantastic year for the club and for Captain Dorena Doran. Best wishes for 2015 Captaion, Elaine Jackson.

June 2014
We visitied Royston Pitch & Putt Club for our second outing of 2014 and the Newbridge venue provided us with a great day's play. The course has always been tricky but fair and most of the members enjoyed the variety of hole set-ups as well as the good weather we had all day. The food, staff and facilities were all top class and we were really made welcome in the venue. Best on the day was Mrtin O'Byrene with two rounds of 58 and 56. Close behind was Elaine Jackson and Don O'Sullivan. All three are now heading to the Handicap doctor to take their medicine. Best visitor was The Albion international member, Anne Bowden - her practice round in Elm Hall the previous day standing her in good stead. No hole in one so it's a rollover till the Captain's Outing.

May 2014
The first outing of the 2014 season brought us to Glenville, Kiltipper - and what a brilliant day it was. Bright sunshine from start to finish and a course that is one of the best in the country - what more could you want.
We had 17 players on the day and the unanimous decision was that the course was a good test for even the best players. Best on the day was Don O'Sullivan, a man who continues to show us all how to play pitch and putt with consistancy and style. Anto and Elaine were second and third respectively. Dorena's brother, Fergus, was a welcome visitor and claimed top visitor's prize. No hole in one declared so the funds roll over till the next outing. Food in The Kiltipper Inn afterwards was really good and a few swift beers back at our base in Celbridge rounded off a most enjoyable event. Well done to the new committee for all the hard work.

AGM 2014 will take place on Thursday, Feb 13th in the Castletown Inn.

Sept 2013
Dungarvan was this year's venue for our captain's outing and Paul Chamberlin chose well. The course, hotel and town were all fantastic. We were made feel very welcome everywhere we went.
Big winner on the weekend was Paula Kenny - she has played great stuff all year. Big round of applause to Eamon Lynch who won the rollover "hole in one" competition -  great shot ,Eamon.
Very nice to see our visitors Anne, Caroline and Mags and extra nice to see two former captains, Liz and Keith Thomas - thank you all for joining us.
Well done to all the members who represented the club so well over the weekend and also a "big thank you" to the hard-working committee.
These events don't just happen. A lot of planning went into this event over the last few months and we are lucky to have such a great set of committee members.

July 2013
We had a super day down in Co.Meath - Kells to be precise. It was our President's Day and the man himself, Tom Roche, was in attendance and swung his clubs with the best and rest of us. A very tight course gave us all a few problems but mostly it was great to be out and about pinging golf balls to our heart's content. Two stunning rounds of 49 and 51 (nett) left Elaine Jackson in seventh heaven. She took  second place on a very competitive day. Club Treasurer, Anthony Shortt, got all the elements of his game lined up and firing at the same time and ended up with two great rounds to take top spot and the President's Trophy. A thrilled Anto commented, "I'm thrilled" and so he was - thrilled!
Hole in one money: It's a rollover to Dungarvan - despite Marty Sheahan coming within inches or more than one occasion on the day. Top visitor was Anne Boden.
Food and drink all measured up nicely and our Moldovan bus driver got us there and back in fine style. A big thanks to the committee for the organization and super prizes on the day.
May 2013
We had a great day up at Poulaphouca for our first outing of the season. A band of 18 braved the sun, the wind and the rain as we made our way through four seasons in one day! The course was short and tricky and proved a stern enough challenge for everyone. Well, everyone except Enda Gilchriest. Our returning member posted two solid rounds to take top prize. Nice to see Tom Roche out and about on the course too. Great scoring also by Paula Kenny and Ritchie Kenny (nee Shortt) to take 2nd and 3rd spot respectively.

Second Outing           Kells 27th July 2013

Captain's Day            Dungarvan 28th September

November 2012
The Christmas Outing was brought forward a couple of weeks to try to avoid the bad weather but, as it turned out, it was a pretty frosty morning when we got to the course at Long Meadows, Ballyfermot. How and ever the helpful staff opened up and let us loose on the course. We had a very enjoyable day - one frosty round and one clear round - it all made for an interesting day on a very pleasant course. Paul Chamberlin brushed aside the conditions to post an excellent winning score of 108 - basically, two par rounds. Well done Paul and best of luck with the captaincy next year. Great to see so many visitors join us. Caroline, Anne, Mags and Pat all added to our day and they all enjoyed themselves. The course and the welcoming staff were fantastic and we already have the venue on our shortlist for next year. Bill and the gang in Greens Restaurant wined and dined us in fine style and we all managed to sink a few small beverages later on in The Speaker's. Another very successful comes to a close - a year that was made special by each and every member and visitor who came along and played their part in the club. Looking forward to seeing everbody in March 2013.

September 2012
Two hole-in-ones at a very impressive Lakeside Course in Templemore was only one of the many highlights of Captain Sarah Sheehan's weekend away. Kevin Byrne and Kevin Doran slotted tee shots in first time to claim the hole-in-one funds. Two very good rounds by Kevin Byrne - a model of consistancy and snappy lyrics writer- saw him claim first prize. He was also presented with the Tom Roche Perpetual Trophy. Kevin Doran had an excellent day on the course and finished in second spot while Elaine Jackson appeared yet again in the prizewinning circle with a fine third place. Top visitor was our Queen of Visitors, Margaret Chamberlin - well done, Mags. Our overseas member from The Albion, Anne Bowden, recovered from her knee problem sufficiently to enable her to travel to the event and she was a welcome visitor, as always. Nice to see Pat Cummins back with us for the weekend also. Other highlights of the weekend included a fantastic array of prizes, a great hotel with a staff who really treated us royally - round of applause to them all,a great sing-song (even Don sang!!) on the Saturday night and a very pleasant day on the Lakeside course.
Well done to the committee and Sarah for providing us all with a top class event.

April 2012
We had a very nice day up in Collon, Co. Louth. The course was one of the trickiest we have played. It was in fabulous shape and proved a real test. Huge applause to Tony Jackson with an excellent two rounds to win top prize and also well done to Elaine Jackson on a great second place.
The food in the pub was very nice and the staff looked after us well. Our nice bus driver got us there and back in double quick time and we managed to sink a round or two of drinks back in The Inn to finish off a good day out. Well done to the committee on a very smooth day.

December 2011
Despite not getting to play our Christmas outing on the day due to the frosty conditions, we had our Christmas dinner and drinks in the Castletown Inn as planned and it was a lovely night out for us all.
Luckily enough, the following Saturday, we managed to get out and play two rounds in Ballybane and Paul Chamberlin swept all before him with two great grounds. Top visitor on the day was Denis Sheehan and most tearful speech award went to outgoing Captain, Kevin Byrne!!

September 2011
Captain Kevin brought us to Newry for the pitch and putt and Carlingford for the craic and what a splendid weekend we had. Friday saw some golf, shopping and early evening drinks getting the weekend off to a gentle start in Carlingford. The Saturday was a full day at the Newry pitch and putt couse and what a tricky little monster it turned out to be. Not an easy hole on the entire course but nonetheless we all enjoyed the experience. Well done to Anthony who holed his tee-off shot on the very first hole for a hole-in-one. Well done to Dorena and Ritchie - two excellent rounds of p&p with Dorena winning top prize on a countback. Congrats to Anne Boden on her top visitor prize. Our hotel and the pubs around Carlingford looked after us very well and service was with a smile and a warm welcome everywhere we went in the town. The committee and Kevin worked hard to put together a lovely weekend - thanks very much folks.....it was a super success.

July 2011
The second outing of the season brought us back to Killcullen where we had previously visited more than ten years ago. We had an excellent day out on a lovely course with a great turn out of 20 players. Food, drink, prizes and weather were all fantastic. Well done to Dave and Anthony who both finished on 105 for the two rounds - really good shooting. A big thank you to the committee who worked hard to put together a lovely day from start to finish. May 2011
The first outing of the season saw us visit Glenville Pitch & Putt Club for the first time in our history. We had a really splendid day at the club. The course was one of the best and most challenging we have played in recent memory. The catering and bar staff also did a great job in looking after us and our bus driver got us back to the Speaker's in time for a couple of nightcaps.

Best on the day was new member,Kevin Doran, with two very good scoring rounds. Second place went to one of our longest serving member, the wonderful, Anne Biggs.
Our Captain, Kevin Byrne thanked al the members for turning up and making the day enjoyable.

March 2010
The new season has just kicked off in fine style with the weather not too bad for this time of year. We had a good turn out of members for the first couple of weeks of the season with the promise of the last few stragglers turning up very soon. We also welcome a couple of new members, Christy Clarke and Elaine Jackson. If you know of any more people who would like to play with us then please encourage them.

Some of you may have seen the nice write up in the Liffey Champion a few weeks back publicing the club and also the fact that it is our 21st season as a club.

At the moment it looks like our first outing will be the May Bank Hioliday weekend so don't make plans to leave the country, re-new your marraige vows or go to your neice's Holy Communion!!

September 2009
Paula's Captain's outing was a great success. The gang headed to Enniscorthy where hotel, food, drink (hic) and course were all top class. Congrats to Paula on all your hard work to make the event as memorable as it was.
The St Patricks course was in wonderful condition , and even the sun came out to play for a change . A total of 18 players took on the challenge of this very tight course with bushes that swallowed balls whole and spat out torn up score cards !
After a scramble round , lunch and the first round of the competition proper the group travelled down to book into the Riverside Park Hotel nearby. There followed a lovely meal after which it was decided to see what the bright lights of Eniscorthy had to offer.
Doyles pub came to the fore , this very traditional pub proved to be a popular watering hole , much merriment was had , which included some members deciding their singing voices needed testing.
The next morning after an excellent breakfast it was back up the hill to the course for the second round.
Even with a few sore heads everyone made it to the course on time , after the second round it was time to do the maths and see what the result was.
Nice to see some regular and some new visitors - they all played their part in making it a real occasion.
The tricky course caused problems to several of the players but obviously Sarah Sheehan took not a blind bit of notice of the bunkers or the tight pin positions. First ! - I ask you. For the love of Mike - whose been looking after this woman's handicap. Sarah was a deserved winner and we can only live in hope that a decent size buzz saw is taken to her handicap - she's been making a show of us all year. Well done Sally - nice to see there's at least one winner in your house!!! Also congrats to Dorena and Paula who made it a clean sweep of the top three prizes for the ladies. Lads - c'mon - get the finger out and start playing!!

July 2009
The July outing was on the 4th to the Brock Inn and reports reach web central that a fantastic day was had by all. The deal for the day was excellent and many people particularly mentioned the brilliant food. Top of the class on the day was Sarah Sheahan ( are ya listenin' Marty!!!) with a couple of really excellent scores ( suck it up Marty - ooh, the pain of it!!!). Second was Imposter Byrne and third was the ever reliable Donald Mac an suil amhain. Well done to all our visitors who turned up in their droves with Pat Shortt winning top prize ( seriously lads, whose cuttin' the man's handicap - will ya ever do a good job this time - the man is a brilliant player!!).

The AGM was held on Feb 19th in Castletown Inn. A reasonable turnout applauded the fine efforts of both Keith and Liz Thomas on all their sterling work during 2008. The gathering was equally shocky to hear of Keith and Liz's possible retirement from the club for the 2009 season. The new committee was selected - results on the committee page. Paula Kenny graciously accepted the captaincy for the coming year and she was wished well by all present. Anthony Shortt was also warmly acepted as the vice captain. Play begins on March 22nd.

September 2008
David brought us off to Drogheda and we made a fine weekend of it for his Captain's. Well done to David and the committee on all the organising of the course, the hotel and the karaoke!!. We had a splendid couple of days with the weather shining down on us. The course staff and members were very courteous and welcoming to us and the course was tricky enough but ionteresting. Overall winner was the wonderful Marty Sheahan followed by Eamonn Lynch and Martin O'Byrne. Photo evidence here>>>

Congrats to Don O'Sullivan ( and his daughter) of this very parish on becoming a grandfather for the second time. A lovely baby girl.

July 08
Our outing at Ryston was very enjoyable with Tom Roche hitting the clubhouse in top spot. Second on the day was Paula Kenny and third was the mustachioed Pat Cummins. Drinks and frolics were had by all later on in the evening at the Kildrought where a surprise 40th birthday party was sprung on Marty Sheehan.

May 08
Our next outing has now been confirmed for Saturday 26th July at Ryston (Irish Ropes), in Newbridge.

Ryston Club will provide all required facilities including lunch and evening meal, and the cost per head is Euro 55 - a bit cheaper than our last outing. We should arrive at the venue for the usual cup of tea at 10.30, followed by the scramble at 11 a.m. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. and the competition proper will start at 2 p.m. After the usual two rounds we'll have our evening meal - 6 to 6.30 p.m. - and presentation of prizes. We have already been advised that the venue has been booked by another party for the evening/night, so our best option is to retire back to Celbridge and regroup later in a suitable watering hole - to be agreed.

May 08
Our first outing to Athgarvan turned out to be a quite but very enjoyable affair. The numbers in attendance were down due to various members being unavailable through confirmations, illness etc - all unavoidable stuff.
Very well done to Derina Doran on her first place - the first of many!! Runner-up was Marty and they were followed by David Thompson and Don O'Sullivan.
Also worth noting the food in the Athgarvan Inn - we were well looked after.

April 08
There's a six week competition underway at the moment and attendances are fairly reasonable over the past number of Sundays.

Dec 07
Talk about getting in under the wire : Seamus just about let us out on the small course for the Christmas outing. The weather had not been great up to the week before the outing with rain and frost nearly scuppering us.
But all in all we had a smashing day, a lovely meal in Greens upstairs and a very nice few beers in the Speaker's afterwards - All the members and our friends and guests helped make it a truly nice day and night.See Gallery page for photos of the event.

Winner on the day was Don O'Sulivan while the best visitor was our good friend Eamonn mcAuley with a remarkable score over the two rounds.

Sep 07
Well, well, well - what a time we had at the Captain's Outing in Bagnalstown. The course was in great shape and as tricky as we've seen in many an outing. The hotel was sumptious and a travelling party of around 28 members and friends enjoyed the weekend. Tom Roche did his best to win two outings in a row while Derina Doran played some of her best pitch and putt since joining but Eamonn Lynch was the dark horse on the final day and past the post first to win the prize. Well done Eamonn - great to see you back on form. Congrats to Captain Liz for organising a really enjoyable event.

August 07
Our midsummer evening outing to Saggart was on Friday 10th and we had a healthy turn out despite the soft rain. James McCluskey - one of the youngest competitiors in club history at 13 years old - came in with the lowest score and took away with him first prize. A pleasant evening ensued in The Mucky Duck.

July 07
Poulaphouca outing went very well with Tom Roche claiming top spot. The rain poured during the lunch only which left us with a very pleasant day on the course. We also enjoyed a nice evening in The Cage in O'Connor's in the evening. Unfortunately a number of members couldn't make it on the day mainly due to holidays.See gallery page for photos of the event.

June 07
Well done to Derina on winning the 6 week competition. She was closely followed home by Anthony Shortt.

Next outing is to Poulaphouca..please let Liz/Keith know if you are attending. Visitors and friends are welcome.

The Captain's weekend will be on Saturday/Sunday, 15th/16th September at Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow. We'll have lunch at the clubhouse. Dinner and accommodation will be at the The Lord Bagenal Inn Hotel in Leighlinstown.

Could you please confirm your booking by payment of a Euro 30 (per head) deposit to the Treasurer or any Committee member.

April 07
Pat Cummins won the opening outing of the season at The Curragh. The weather, course and food were all excellent. No hole in one - it's carried over to the next outing.

New Rule for Sunday Competitions 2007
Following a motion to the AGM, a new facility has been introduced for this year for Sunday competitions.

This will operate as follows:

In the event of a member not being able to play on a particular Sunday, he/she may contact other club members and arrange a game on any day of the preceeding week. The result of this game must be communicated to a Committee member before close of normal Sunday play in order to qualify for that Sunday's competition. Green Fees for this game (less Elm Hall's fee) should be given to the Treasurer or other Committee member as soon as is practicable, together with completed score cards.

A member who has played during the week may also play on the Sunday if he/she wishes, but the score from the arranged game will be used for the purpose of the Sunday competition.

Every member can avail of this facility up to a maximum of four times in the year.

April 07
Pat Cummins has joined the committee.

The six week competition starts April 15th - best 4 cards to count.

First outing is to The Curragh on April 28th and costs 45 euros. Be there at 10.30 a.m.

Date for your diary : Summer outing is to Poulaphouca on July 7th and our midsummer evening out will be to Saggart on August 10th.

Captain's weekend away will be in September - more details soon.

March 2007

Feb 2011

Well done to all our visitors who turned up in their droves with Pat Shortt winning top prize ( seriously lads, whose cuttin' the man's handicap - will ya ever do a good job this time - the man is a brilliant player!!).
p.s. did Kevin Byrne ever notice what was written on the box he won on the Christmas 08 outing - check out the pic on the gallery page!!

February 2009

Our first outing is down to Athgarvan on May 10th. Members and guests should arrive for 10.30 a.m. There's a scramble in the morning followed by two rounds of competition in the afternoon. Lunch and evening meal is at The Athgarvan Inn. 60 euro per person.

Take the M7. Pass the M9 turnoff, continue on the M7 and take the next exit. At the roundabout at the top of the ramp take the first turnoff
towards Athgarvan. The pitch and putt course is clearly marked as you enter the built up area.

See committee page for details of the elected officers for the year.

The price per head for the weekend will be Euro 115.00. and it is imperative that we have numbers of those wishing to attend as soon as possible.
