Captain's weekend clonmel September 2014
25 years later and our pitch and putt club is still in rude good health and to prove it our Captain's Outing this year was to Cashel/Clonmel in County Tipp and what a splendiferous event we had.
Members and friends gathered in the beautiful Bailey Hotel on the Friday for an evening of pre-event social festivity.
Saturday opened up a bit dull but by the time we started the scramble at Clonmel's Hillview Pitch & Putt course the day brightened up considerably. The course itself was both brilliant and frustrating and it was plain to see why it's a top championship course. We had a more than pleasant day there and the staff looked after us very well. They even managed not to laugh too loud when it took over 30 shots before one of our members actually hit the green in our nearest the pin challenge at the end of the day. Well done to Marty for sparing our blushes.

First Tee - and the victims line up before the agony in the garden commences
Marty was also deserved winner on the day with a great score and, once again, Elaine Jackson had a blistering two rounds to come in a very close second place. All the rollover hole-in-one money went to Dead Eye Dick - Don O'Sullivan and best visitor was our overseas member from The Albion, Anne Boden.
Thanks: It goes without saying that a major part in the fantastic success of the weekend was our Captain, Dorena Doran, and the hours she spent organising. Helping her along the way was Kevin Doran and our sterling committee. Thanks to Elaine for the brilliant quiz - surely now a must for future weekend events. Thanks to Sarah for keeping the books balanced at the event.
At the presentation Dorena also made sure to thanks all the hard work over the past number of seasons to Anthony Shortt during his stint as treasurer. She also marked the day by applauding some of our full 25 year season members including Tom Roche, Eamonn Lynch, Anne Biggs and Don O'Sullivan.
Finally, many thanks to the hosts of our favourite watering hole, The Speaker's Bar/Castletown Inn, Noel & Cee Devine, who (more than) generously donated a sizeable sum to help us fund prizes - cheers, Noel and Cee - very kind of you.
